The SIGHPC Systems Professionals Website
Hello everyone, this is David Clifton, currently a Member-at-Large on the SysPros board. It has been my pleasure to serve this organization since 2016, and I would like to continue to do so as Chair for the 2026-2028 officers’ term. My 25 years at Ansys (and now Synopsys) have given me a deep appreciation for the complexities that our cohort encounters on a daily basis. I am the Program Chair for our full-day workshop at SC26 this year, and look forward to bringing as many of us as possible together both at the workshop and beyond. I’m pleased to see new folks stepping up to participate in SIGHPC SysPros, and look forward to working with everyone to keep this chapter going in the best manner possible.
Hi! I’m Andy Keen, HPC architect at Michigan State University’s Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research. I really appreciate the peer networking for systems professionals that SYSPROS provides across a broad spectrum of scales and domains, as well as the role their workshops serve to advance knowledge and best practices for HPC environments. I am running for vice chair for this election term to support that. For over 20 years I have worked on compute, storage, and networking in research computing environments. I’ve published on HPC topics, including at LISA (RIP). In addition to SYSPROS, I’ve participated in Campus Champions, the XSEDE Service Provider Forum, CARCC, and the BTAA research computing group. I have served on the Syspros SC workshop’s Organizing and Program Committees. I’ve also done reviews for several SC and PEARC workshops. My goals are to grow our membership base and increase the engagement of our existing community (and also figure out how to consistently choose one capitalization pattern for SysPros.)
Hi, I’m Ajinkya, and I would like to nominate myself for Membership Chair of SIGHPC-SYSPROS. I got into HPC at the University of Chicago in 2017 at the Center for Translational Data Science, helping keep the infrastructure running for cancer genomics research funded by the NIH. That experience shaped my career seeing firsthand how HPC systems directly accelerate science that matters. I carried that into industry, working on HPC infrastructure at Tesla where we ran the Cortex supercomputer supporting everything from Full Self-Driving to Robotaxi. Today I’m at Microsoft AI, continuing to build and operate large-scale AI/HPC systems for building frontier models. Outside of my day-to-day work, I’ve enjoyed giving back as a technical reviewer for USRSE, PEARC, and SciPy. Additionally, this year I’m also helping review applications for SC Student Volunteers. As Membership Chair, I want to make sure industry professionals and those at hpc professionals at academic institutions across the globe who could benefit from this group actually learn about it and that once they join, they have every reason to stay engaged. I would be grateful for your consideration.
Thanks, Ajinkya Linkedin
My name is Sam Liston. I would like to throw my hat in the ring for secretary. I have worked in HPC for nearly 25 years at the University of Utah’s Center for High Performance Computing, primarily in the world of storage. I have attended many of the SIGHPC-SYSPROS workshops at SC and PEARC. I have found every one of them to be valuable. I appreciate what SIGHPC-SYSPROS provides for the community in disseminating knowledge and ideas, and fostering collaboration and interaction among the various places doing HPC. I would like to help it continue and expand where and how I can.
Hi I am John Legato I’ve been working as an HPC System Administrator since 2003. I have experience designing, procuring and operating HPC systems for a variety of workloads in the life sciences. I have experience in bridging the gap between the needs of researchers and design and operation of HPC systems to meet those needs. Through my role supporting users, I’ve seen the gaps in HPC training and demand for technical expertise and I welcome the opportunity to serve the chapter and the community. I’ve been a volunteer with the SCinet NetSec team since SC21.I’ve served as Member At Large in SIGHPC-SYSPROS from 2020-2022, and Treasurer since 2022, during that time I’ve been involved with the chapter’s efforts to organize workshops at SC and PEARC as well as maintaining an active presence on the SYSPROS Slack, I am looking forward to continuing to work with SIGHPC SYSPROS to foster community and educate the next generation in the field, I appreciate your consideration for this position.
I’m Abrar Hossain, a Computer Science PhD student at the University of Toledo. I would like to nominate myself for the Member-at-Large position. My goal is to become a Research Software Engineer at a national lab. I enjoy working at the intersection of HPC systems and the scientists who use them. In my research, I focus on improving efficiency in large-scale systems. I have built power-aware schedulers and worked on network observability projects at NCSA and NCAR. I also care a lot about community work. Since my university does not have its own supercomputer, I serve as an NSF ACCESS Student Champion. I help students learn how to use national computing resources. I also lead our ACM student chapter and organize parallel computing workshops for high school students. I noticed that the bylaws encourage student representation in this role. I would be glad to contribute as a student member and share that perspective with the committee. If selected, I am ready to help where needed. I am especially interested in supporting events and outreach, and helping more people get started in HPC. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards, Abrar Hossain
My name is Joseph Tippit, and I would like to self nominate for one of the member at large positions. My first real foray into HPC was studying for my Master’s degree at the Air Force Institute of Technology. My thesis research consisted of developing a GPU accelerated quantum network simulation framework for our partners at the University of Maryland Baltimore. After leaving the Air Force, I joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory as an HPC Engineer for several National Nuclear Safety Administration programs and clusters. These experiences sparked a deep passion for enabling the computational needs of researchers, scientists, and other engineers. I have carried that passion across my career to both Lambda and AMD in both HPC Support and HPC Architecture roles. I care deeply about the future of this profession, and that is why I would like to serve you as a member at large. Thank you for your consideration and time.
I would like to considered for a member at large position for the ACM SIGHPC SYSPROS ACM Chapter. I am the current seceratary, former chair, and former treasurer of ACM SIGHPC SYSPROS ACM Chapter with being a HPC system professional for 21 years at various organizations I have been active in the HPC SysPros since the SC12 BoF session and chaired the HPCSYSPROSC workshop once as well.
